Founded in 2010, Creekside Cares was established to provide assistance to the underserved population in Plainfield’s School District 202. With a desire to help families who became unable to feed or clothe their families due to the nation’s economic downturn, Creekside Cares began by purchasing caps for students in the winter and by asking for donations of gently used items. This initial clothing campaign blossomed into a backpack program, with Creekside Cares distributing nonperishable food on a weekly basis and on holidays to families in need.
Today, Creekside Cares fills and distributes approximately 140 bags of food each week for families in 20 District 202 schools. The organization is committed to resolving hunger issues for all underserved students and their families.
